Turns out the weather in March in difficult wherever you live. We left Cat Island last week in advance of predictions of yet another cold front passing the area trailing high winds and squalls. We sailed back to the Exumas to meet a few friends and reprovision. Good thing we left Cat as the winds switched to the West, a direction from which there is no protection , and I guess it blew a gale there. Reports say 40 knots! We were in a fairly protected harbor at Compass Cay and it still blew a steady 25knots with gusts close to 35knots. That is way too much wind!!!!!!! During these fronts wind direction changes mostly in a clockwise direction. Itwent from West to NW to NE here and it howled and poured! There was good protection except for direct West. At that point we felt that we were living in a washing machine on the spin cycle. Oh and the washer had a screaming belt. The noise of the wind is really disconcerting after a while. We have sailed down the islands a bit but the winds haven't gone much below 20 knots. Still, it is warm and the water is beautiful and impressive in all conditions. The view of the ocean is so impressive as the waves crash onto the rough coral coast. The cliffs are impressive too. Compass Cay is a resort and they charge to land but it is a nice place. They have pet nurse sharks and feed them a few times a day. After they eat the resort allows --encourages? swimming with the sharks! Nurse sharks are supposedly not aggressive but still!!!! There are signs saying
DO NO PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE SHARK'S MOUTH
DO NOT PULL THE SHARK'S TAIL OR FINS
DO NOT SWIM WITH SHARKS WHILE FEEDING THE SHARKS
I guess it takes all kinds. Hope spring comes soon and March goes out like a lamb where ever we are!

Keep hiding from those BIG winds!! Swimming with sharks? Those "girlie" pigs now seem much more appealing!!
Great to talk to you last night! Nice work putting the photos on, they are really telling.
You should learn to windsurf (again) or kite surf, those winds would be perfect.
See you soon,
Brendan
Good tinking about the kite surfing. I see a few and they like as much wind as they can get!
